Project Spotlight: Loews Ventana Canyon

Everything about Arizona’s Loews Ventana Canyon Resort is magnificent. Nestled in the foothills of the stunning Catalina Mountain range on Tucson’s northeast edge, the property awes guests…even before they check in. It’s just one of the many reasons the resort is among the top rated by Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure.

Although the natural beauty in and around the luxury resort is timeless…keeping facilities looking and functioning their best requires a refresh every now and then.

Which was exactly the case this past year as HR Construction began its work giving the lobby and bar area of the resort a new look. Key to its renovations – enrich the area’s ambiance and enhance the guests’ experience by introducing audiovisual technologies engineered to impress. Which is why ExhibitOne was asked to help out.

A focal point for the project was the introduction of a nine-panel video wall with the ability to mix and match video to view multiple sources at once, or make it one big picture with just a touch of a button. Less conspicuous but just as powerful was a significant upgrade to the area’s sound system, including giving resort staff the ability to make adjustments at multiple locations.

SVSi (a division of Harman) was selected by the design team to be the technology backbone of the project – a key element in bringing the “wow factor” to a once lifeless space where the video wall now stands. It allowed ExhibitOne to use the resort’s existing IT network to transfer video, audio and other signals to the new video wall and a display in the bar area, giving users simultaneous access and control of both.

The audio solution was made to handle several zones including, the outdoor patio and pool area. It was created by using a BiAmp digital sound processing solution that allows multiple configurations to be loaded and set to the client’s needs. The zoning of the system is robust to the point of being able to route sound to connected speakers virtually anywhere in the facility.

The speakers in the lobby area were upgraded to JBL Control 65 pendants and recessed above the slat ceiling to provide great quality sound without being seen by the naked eye. At the video wall location, JBL Control 25s were installed behind the framing to add great audio clarity to the people in direct line of sight of the displays.

It was an absolute pleasure to partner with HR Construction and work with resort staff – taking their direction and ideas to build out everything they imagined and more.

But hey, don’t take my word for it. Not only can you check it out for yourself…you can check in and have an awesome vacation while you’re doing it. Oh! And while there…send a note and let us know what you think of our work.
